Introduction

Like our TCAS II/ACAS II systems which account for more than 10,000 installations flying on 325 aircraft types, the compact CAS 66A works by interrogating the ATC transponders of other aircraft in flight. The CAS 66A then processes this information and displays the positions of surrounding aircraft to the pilot.

Your needs

ATC procedures and the “see and avoid concept” will continue to be the primary means of ensuring aircraft separation. However, if communication is lost with ATC, TCAS adds a significant backup for collision avoidance.

Your benefits

To provide the greatest margin of safety, the TSO'd CAS 66A can interrogate the ATC transponders of up to 30 surrounding aircraft and display their positions. It offers crew-selectable ranges of 3, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 40 nautical miles. Selectable altitude coverages give you three perspectives on traffic, including normal view, an upward view (up to 8,700 feet above and 2,700 feet below the aircraft) and a downward view (from 2,700 feet above to 8,700 feet below). There's even a feature that shows an intruder's flight level, instead of just his altitude relative to your own aircraft.

Product Description

Featuring the same patented interferometry processing and advanced antenna design as our TCAS II/ACAS II systems, the CAS 66A provides the best direction and bearing accuracy in its class. This information is provided through a range of display and control options, from a dedicated flat-panel color Traffic Advisory/Vertical Speed Indicator (TA/VSI) with bezel-mounted controls, to a weather radar, multifunction display (MFD), including our new KMD series of MFDs, or Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS) interface with a separate control panel.
